For Young People

The Knotted Project team has extensive experience in delivering theatre workshops in a wide range of settings including schools, theatres and even forests. Since 2013, we have aimed to adapt our delivery to each individual we work to ensure that physical theatre is accessible to all.

The Knotted Project lead bespoke workshops & projects all over the UK. Using our specialist & tailored approach, we inspire young people to express themselves & share their opinions and stories through creativity. We have vast experience in delivering projects that promote resilience in young people, including our role as Lead Artists on Tales Retold; Part of the Story-Led Resilience Programme at Blackpool Grand Theatre, Winner of the 2023 UK Theatre Award for Excellence in Arts Education.

TKP facilitators have full & enhanced DBS certificates & First Aid Training. We are also trained in Children’s Mental Health, Safeguarding & Arts Award Discover, Explore, Bronze, Silver & Gold.

Below are just some of the workshops we can offer but please note, that we normally design an original workshop that adapts to the groups we are working with and the setting in which we are working together.

TKP Primary Schools Workshops

Reception & KS1: Igloo Story Workshops

We offer primary schools in Cumbria & Manchester a 2-hour theatre & dance workshop ‘Igloo Story’. Led by professional artists, children will enter a magical world of penguins, fun & adventure, a world that features in our touring theatre production and illustrated story book, as featured on www.igloostory.com.’

This creative workshop aims to provide children with the tools, inspiration and energy to bounce back from this unparalleled year of change.

Workshops are available for the Autumn Term, booking available September-December 2021.

KS2 Workshops: Young Imaginations

Our KS2, ‘Young Imaginations’ workshops, use physical theatre techniques to help to unlock young people’s creative skills & potential. Young people will take part in a mixture of team-building & individual activities that challenge their leaning & creative thinking, with the opportunity to create a short performance by the end of the workshop.

These energetic & fun-filled workshops aid children’s development by building their creative & communication skills, confidence & resilience.

These workshops are flexible in length from a one-off session to a full day workshop. Bookings are available all year round.

Secondary Schools & Colleges Workshops

We offer secondary schools & college students specialised bespoke physical theatre workshops with a professional artist that focus on creative skills building, devising theatre, directing & creative development.

Through our creative toolkit approach, young people will acquire new skills, collaborate, learn from each other & develop their own devised performance pieces on topics they’re passionate about.

These workshops are flexible in length from a one-off session to a full week of workshops. Bookings are available all year round.

Drama School/Audition Prep Workshops

TKP offer individual & group workshops for young people of all ages who are preparing for auditions and drama school. We offer both Mock Auditions & support with specific audition pieces.

Our feedback & support aims to leave young people feeling confident & ready to take on the challenges of a drama school audition.

We offer both online & offline audition preparation workshops. Bookings are available all year round.

Universities & Conservatoires Workshops

We offer high-quality industry skills workshops to university & conservatoire students to help prepare them for embarking on a professional creative career in the industry. Each of our workshops are 2-hours in length.

Fundraising & Budgeting: Discover various approaches to fundraising & what funding streams are available to fund your creative projects & performances, from our team of successful Arts Council England Grants recipients.

Starting a Company: Interested in starting your own theatre company? As experienced start-ups of TKP, we offer students an overview of the practicalities to consider for successfully starting up a creative company, including understanding & your aims, offer & values.

Marketing & Promotion: As experienced marketeers of our own work, we can provide you with a range of resources, tools & top tips to market your creative projects & performances, successfully reaching your target audience.

Arts Organisations & Community Settings Workshops

Connect, Create, Collaborate! We offer bespoke creative workshops for groups of young people between the ages of 12-25 in community settings & arts organisations of all abilities. Our Connect, Create, Collaborate workshops offer young people a toolkit and platform to create high-quality & authentic performance pieces.

Our specialist co-creative approach will inspire young people to express themselves & realise their potential to share their voices through art in their own unique way.

These workshops are flexible in length from a one-off session to a full week of workshops. Bookings are available all year round.
