The Knotted Project & Hawk Dance Theatre, are passionate about enriching the lives of young people through the arts. An exceptional creative team brought to life an incredible, interactive, online platform for children to access arts activities.
In March 2020, life as we knew it changed and the nation entered a period of lockdown; young people and their families restricted to a life indoors. Inspired by this turbulent time, our illustrated story and interactive website, aims to engage and inspire every child and family through a wide range of art forms, challenges and skills. For us, imagination and creativity is the key!
We hope that this resource will refuel and refresh parents with exciting new ideas to keep their children creative! We strongly believe that adventure can be found indoors and outdoors, on and offline, and hope that this website can help each child take a step further towards their next adventure.
The Knotted Project has collaborated with Hawk Dance Theatre in an exciting partnership since 2016 to develop unique dance-theatre productions that have toured extensively across the UK and beyond.
Together, we make work for children aged under 10 and their families. Creatively both companies are driven by a passion for relevant and thought-provoking storytelling, stunning visual imagery and creating work for children and young people that makes a difference.
Our multi art form work tours to a broad range of settings such as libraries & theatres, both urban & rural, but always where audiences need is the greatest. Our work speaks to young audiences & families to inspire & motivate, whilst delivering strong messages such as the importance of identity, friendship & belonging.
We aim to bring exceptional quality performance to any space that we tour to, accessible and inclusive to all. We hope to leave audiences motivated & inspired to be creative & to value the role that creativity can play in their lives.
Since 2016, TKP & HDT have collaborated to create multiple touring shows for CYP audiences, such as; The Chit Chat Chalk Show, Outside the Igloo, Inside the Igloo and now The Greatest Robot Ever, all supported through Arts Council England Project Grants.
Our creative process is informed by the communities that we work with and we are passionate that everyone deserves the right to access high quality art and culture experiences. We believe that working together, as Hawk Dance Theatre and The Knotted Project, we can be more ambitious in our work and ambition and strongly believe that our unique collaboration raises the bar and expectations for young people’s focused work.
